Karine Vandenborre Horsefulness Training
Karine has spent most of her life around horses. Her teachers told her she could not have a career in horses as she could do anything and she was wasting her intelligence. Well teacher, we in the horseworld respectfully disagree! We are lucky that Karine decided to follow her heart and has worked her entire adult life with horses.
Farao was Karine’s first horse at her first riding school who proved to be difficult to catch, train and ride. it was her first horse that she developed a very strong bond with. In the picture below, she is 16 years old and she rode him every day. Karine was the only person in the riding school to develop a bond with him. It seems from a young age she was destined to work with difficult horses.
Travelling through Europe to train horses Karine gained an enormous amount of experience along the way. in the picture below, Karine is 23, she was living in Portugal and trained horses there. This is Boomerang, a Lusitano Stallion one of the horses she trained for someone else.
Her first horse of her very own was Niki. A friend gave Niki to Karine when she was 24. She was a nervous horse who couldn’t stand still, especially when being ridden. Karine did liberty with her and developed a strong connection and Niki found more inner calmness when riding. After two months of liberty work Niki could be ridden without tack.
Karine learned mindfulness and meditation, she is also practicing yoga. She takes all of these tools to her horse training and finds if a horse is nervous or not understanding her, she simply comes to the present moment, and the horse changes and can understand her.
