Welcome to Come Along for the Ride the Podcast
This podcast was created to indulge in all of the topics that I am passionate about. These are long form interviews with people who do extraordinary things with horses every day. We get into what they do, how they do it, why they do it, and what led them to be where they are now.
From Gentle Horse Trainers and Riders to Complimentary Horse Therapists, from people working in Equine Assisted Therapy to Entrepreneurs of the horse industry and so much more, we are here to go deep with extraordinary horse people who live their lives making the world a better place for horses.
Our weekly interviews will entertain and engage as well as educate horse owners who are always learning and want to know more about these incredible creatures.
I’ll never forget seeing a horse waiting at the gate, calling for its owner in the morning, asking to be the one to do work on that day. My experience had been of horses walking away when you go into the paddock with a halter or bridle where you have to ride them out with determination and hold on tight once you turned for home. I don’t know about you, but for me, the horse waiting at the gate eager to learn and carry me on their back is the kind of relationship I definitely want for me and my horses. Thus, my obsession with gentle horse trainers began.
My love for complimentary medicine and therapies has been long standing. Working with people who look to cure the whole horse instead of treating a symptom is something that has always been so logical for me. Why treat a symptom when you can get to the core and heal the actual problem that’s causing the symptom? To me, that has to be better in the long run. There is such a wealth of knowledge out there on these types of therapies, and I will go deep into these and how they can help our horses. I will also be finding out how to choose the right therapist to work with our horses, what we need to know and the questions to ask before engaging the services of anyone to be sure we don’t end up out of pocket and with no confidence in the complimentary therapies industry.
My own background with horses is in the Equine Assisted Therapy field. I no longer work in the field as my life has moved in another direction, however the work is something that I love and it always amazes me how giving horses are in this type of work and how they can have such a profound impact on the life of humans.
Another passion of mine is Entrepreneurs who have made a quality business in the horse industry. I love people who are high achievers and can take an idea and turn it into something special at scale. To work in the horse industry, I believe, is an honour, as you can do something you love for horses each day and it can earn you a living. I will chat with people who live the dream and see how they got there and what makes them tick.
You could download an episode or two and have a listen as you clean your stables or paddocks, drive in your car, or sit back with a glass of wine and a group of friends. I really hope you get as much out of the interviews as I did.
I would really love you to become engaged with the podcast, so please, let me know of any guest you would like me to speak with. Word of mouth is a great way to find guests and also for you to hear the stories of people who interest you, the ones that you’ve always wanted to find out more about. I’m happy to take all suggestions on board and would love to hear from you as this podcast is much better with you as a part of it.
